Marsh Barton businesses join the Gigabit revolution

Businesses in Marsh Barton can now access affordable full-fibre internet services thanks to a roll-out project from telecoms provider Triangle Networks and full-fibre infrastructure builder, CityFibre.

Previously, with access to full-fibre in Exeter’s largest trading estate both limited and cost prohibitive, local businesses had been calling out for better internet connectivity. Today, Triangle Networks is delivering gigabit-capable internet services to businesses across the park, using CityFibre’s state-of-the-art network. The new network extends to reach all 500 businesses in the area, covering 1.2 square miles.

Companies like South West Nissan are now connected to the network in Marsh Barton and are already experiencing the benefits of running their business operations at gigabit speed.

Shaun Grist, Group IT Manager at Wellington Motor Group, the holding company for South West Nissan, said: “Most of our apps are now hosted or online and our workshop staff need to upload a lot of data.  This used to take a while on the previous leased line but now it’s no issue. With a gigabit each way, there’s plenty of room to manoeuvre. I never have to worry that the Exeter branch is going to complain that the connection is too slow!”

Josh Butler, Triangle’s partnership manager in Exeter, said: “In a post-COVID landscape, reliable, high speed internet connectivity becomes evermore essential. With an increasingly hybrid and remote workforce, it’s critical that businesses’ online tools and applications are  reliable and easily accessible 24/7. I’m delighted that Triangle and our IT partners are now able to support businesses across Marsh Barton and ensure they have the connections they need to develop and thrive.”

Triangle Networks is working with local IT providers across Exeter to connect businesses in Marsh Barton and beyond to full-fibre.
